China's first set of equipment that could dispose of medical wastewater with electron beam irradiation has been put into use.
The device has passed expert review and acceptance tests in Shiyan, central China's Hubei Province, the China Atomic Energy Authority said Thursday.
The equipment was developed by the China General Nuclear Power Corporation and Tsinghua University.
The device has been in trial operation in Shiyan's Xiyuan Hospital for several months and has proved effective in clearing viruses.
The technology provides an effective and safe solution to prevent the spread of pathogens including coronavirus in medical wastewater.
