The French health consultative body is recommending all adults 18 and over get a COVID-19 booster shot five months after the second dose.
The French National Authority for Health said on Thursday that the worrying pandemic context also justifies an accelerated vaccination campaign by shortening the time between primary vaccination and the booster dose, from six months to five months.
It also called for continuous efforts to give jabs to the unvaccinated.
France has approved the use of vaccines developed by Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca.
By Nov. 24, a total of 51,805,728 people in France, or 76.8 percent of the population, have received at least one vaccine dose, and over 6 million people received a booster shot, according to official data.
