Lao Asia Pacific Satellite Co. Ltd. (LAOSAT), a China-Laos joint venture, was on Wednesday awarded a Medal of Valor of Lao People's Army at a ceremony held in the Lao capital Vientiane.
The Vientiane-based LAOSAT is honored for its overcoming difficulties amid COVID-19 to help set up and operate a national defense TV channel successfully in Laos, and make outstanding contributions in broadcasting major meetings as well as Laos' efforts to combat COVID-19 and cope with natural disasters.
LAOSAT General Manager Ding Yongbing was also awarded a 2nd class Medal of Valor of the Lao People's Army.
Chansamone Chanyalath, a member of Political Bureau of the Central Committee of Lao People's Revolutionary Party, as well as deputy prime minister and defense minister, said at the awarding ceremony that LAOSAT provides professional satellite equipment and excellent technical support for the national defense TV channel and offers strong support for Laos on national defense and public security.
Ding said at the ceremony that LAOSAT will make full use of its technical advantages to continue to help Laos promote social, economic and national defense development in the Southeast Asian country.
LAOSAT's business scope covers satellite communications, satellite television, telecom wideband and other services.
