About 30 percent of the sperm donated in East China's Jiangsu province does not meet the required standard, according to the local sperm bank.
Less than 20 percent of the sperm donated by white-collar workers was qualified, the sperm bank said. Also, more than 60 percent of the sperm donated by college students, who account for more than 90 percent of the donors, could not be accepted by the bank because of their low quality.
According to a survey by Nanjing General Hospital of Nanjing Military Command, one in every three men preparing to have a baby has low quality sperm.
