Vietnam will grant e-visa for international tourists on trial basis in two years of 2017-2018, said Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) on Friday.

Following that, all procedures from applying files, reviewing and announcing visa-granting result will be carried out on the internet.

The visa fee payment will be made via banking transactions to improve financial transparency and facilitate the application of visitors, said VNAT chief Nguyen Van Tuan at a press conference held Friday in Vietnam's capital Hanoi.

The time to review and grant e-visa is three days while the duration of a visa is 30 days.

The move aims at reducing troubles that tourists many encounter while applying for Vietnamese visa, especially in travelling time, said Tuan, adding that the tourism sector still expected more favorable policies to become more attractive compared with other regional countries.

In the first ten months of 2016, Vietnam welcomed more than 8.07 million international tourists, up 25.4 percent year-on-year.

The country targets to receive some 9.7 million person-times of foreign visitors and 62 million domestic travelers in 2016, pocketing around 400 trillion Vietnamese dong (17.94 billion U.S. dollars) in revenue, said the VNAT.
