The Shanghai World Travel Fair opened on Thursday and is expected to draw 65,000 visitors to the four-day exhibition.
Exhibitors include 750 organizations from 50 countries and regions.
According to a joint report by China Tourism Academy and tour operator Ctrip, Chinese people made 130 million trips overseas in 2017. They spent 115 billion U.S. dollars.
For Chinese travellers, countries such as Argentina, Bulgaria, Cuba, Finland, Norway and Russia are increasingly popular, tour operators said.
Meanwhile, Chinese domestic tourism market is booming. Last year, Chinese domestic tours were over five billion, up 12.8 percent year on year. Trips made by overseas travellers were about 29 million, up 3.6 percent.
Dai Bin, head of the China Tourism Academy, said cooperation between China and other countries in the tourism sector will help boost more exchanges and contribute to global economic and social development.
