Progress has been made in the search for the 12 missing boys and their soccer coach who have been trapped in northern Thailand's Tham Luang cave. Rescue divers are close to reaching the spot where the boys are believed to be in dark, flooded cave passages.
According to CGTN correspondent Martin Lowe who is at the scene, divers have progressed inwards 1.5 km into caves since weather improved. But there are still three kilometers more to reach where the boys are thought to be.
International teams from the US, Australia, China and other countries have brought their expertise and equipment. When they reach the teens, the quickest way to get them out is to bring them scuba gear for them to swim out. But given that the boys have already been underground for eight nights and nine days, it may seem impossible. So plan B is to send in scuba-trained doctors to treat the youngsters.
The 12 schoolboys and their soccer coach have been missing for nine days after entering the Tham Luang cave. It is one of Thailand's longest and toughest caves to navigate.
