After more than ten months' work, Beijing has finished naming 1,006 nameless roads, local authorities said Thursday.
Beijing Municipal Commission for City Planning and Land Resources Management initiated a project in August 2017, looking for nameless roads to give a name to. The project was concluded at the end of June.
Guo Jian, an official with the commission, said namers with the commission have to resort to historical materials, consult experts and relevant government departments, solicit public opinions online, and go through many other procedures before finally fixing the names.
The commission found a total of 1,958 nameless roads after investigation and determined that 1,006 of them needed to be named.
