An earthquake measuring 8.2 on the Richter scale jolted 291 km NNE of Ndoi Island, Fiji at 00:19:37 GMT on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 570.0 km, was initially determined to be at 18.1 degrees south latitude and 178.0 degrees west longitude.
No tsunami warning or damage have been reported following the quake.
