A senior Chinese official on Tuesday demanded deepening the fight against criminal gangs.
The order was given at a national workshop chaired by Guo Shengkun, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the Commission for the Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee.
Guo said the fight should focus on areas, sectors and fields where there has been little progress and strike harder at those protecting gangs. Loopholes need to be closed and people must be mobilized at community levels.
The meeting heard a progress report by a task force in Hebei Province. Guo commended their achievements and required follow-up measures to address problems and strengthen supervision.
He said advances must be made in the fight against gangs across the country.
