Macao has hoisted Signal No. 9 on Sunday morning to prepare for the incoming super storm, as Typhoon Mangkhut is approaching to the special administrative region (SAR).
Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau had hoisted Signal No. 9 at 9:00 a.m. local time. It said that severe Typhoon "Mangkhut" is located about 180 km southeast of Macao and moves toward the west coast of southern China's Guangdong Province.
Macao SAR Chief Executive Chui Sai On presided a emergency meeting at the Civil Protection Operations Centre on Sunday Morning and reviewed whether the emergency measures were in place as planned.
He said the SAR government will do its best to fulfill its duty and protect people from the harm by the storm, as all contingencies went well for now and Macao people followed instructions issued by government.
Macao Marine and Water Bureau said all marine transport have been canceled since last night and all ships should remain in port and keep alert for severe weather condition.
Macao International Airport said there would be 160 flights canceled on Sunday, and another 17 on Monday.
Macao's buses also stopped operation, as well as three bridges linking Macao Peninsula and Cotai Island.
Macao's immigration control department said all border passes of Macao to Zhuhai were shutdown.
