A 5.9-magnitude earthquake hit close to the northernmost tip of Haiti, 19 kilometers northwest of Ti Port-de-Paix, at 0011 GMT on Sunday, killing at least 11 people, according to government spokesman Eddy Jackson Alexis.
The epicenter of the earthquake was recorded at a depth of about 11.7 kilometers, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
