Over 1,000 artists have volunteered to teach in some 100 township primary and middle schools over the past five years, according to a statement from the China Literary and Art Volunteers' Association (CLAVA).
Under the program, the volunteers taught over 234,000 students during their six-month service periods, said the statement.
During the same period, the organization also brought more than 300 large scale entertainment shows to communities, attracting an audience of over 2 million people in total.
Some 5,000 artists participated in those galas.
The second CLAVA national congress was held from Thursday to Friday, during which its charter was amended and a new leadership was elected.
