A heavy snow starting on Friday caused a large-scale blackout affecting 88,700 households in northeastern China's Heilongjiang Province, local electricity supplier said Saturday.
The Heilongjiang branch of the State Grid Corporation of China said the blackout was caused by icing of the power transmission lines in Mudanjiang city.
Power supply had been resumed for all the affected households as of Saturday afternoon, after hundreds of workers and vehicles were mobilized to repair the damaged lines.
Traffic authorities said the snow also delayed some trains on the Harbin-Jiamusi line on Saturday.
