Four dead in SW China landslide, one still missing

Four people have died in a landslide that hit near a petrol station on Sunday in Xuyong County in Luzhou City, southwest China's Sichuan Province, according to local authorities.

Among the 12 people trapped, 11 have been pulled out of the debris, while one person remains missing. The latest victim was a 2-year-old girl who was declared dead after being lifted out.

Three died en route to the hospital and the other seven are receiving emergency treatment at the hospital.

Three houses have been destroyed in the area.

Fire trucks and ambulances rushed to the scene shortly after the incident, which happened at around 5:00 p.m. local time. More than 600 rescuers participated in the search and rescue work, according to Xinhua.
