China has achieved full coverage of telemedicine in all county-level hospitals in national-level poverty-stricken counties, the National Health Commission (NHC) said at a press conference on Wednesday.
By the end of 2018, China's tertiary hospitals had sent more than 60,000 medical personnel to participate in the management as well as in the diagnosis and treatment facilities of county-level hospitals in impoverished regions, with over 30 million outpatient visits, over three million discharged patients and more than 500,000 inpatient surgeries.
A total of 5,900 clinical specialties have been set in the county hospitals under the help of the dispatched personnel, who also carried out more than 38,000 new technologies and projects.
Both the service and management have been improved as quality medical services provided by tertiary hospitals have been effectively penetrated.
In addition, two batches of 315 experts had been sent to support eight hospitals in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region by the end of 2018, providing diagnosis and treatment to 93,200 patients, performing 10,800 surgeries and nearly 500 new projects. The success rate of emergency and critical care rescue reached 90 percent.
Four batches of 699 experts have been sent to eight hospitals in the Tibet Autonomous Region.
