No Chinese citizens were injured in the robbery at the Inkaterra Hotel in Madre de Dios, Peru, on Tuesday night local time, according to the Chinese Embassy in Peru.
The embassy immediately launched the emergency response mechanism and will continue to follow up on the development of the incident.
According to the investigation, some 10 gang members with guns robbed the hotel, in which 41 Chinese tourists have checked in. The gangsters escaped after killing a local tour guide.
Other tourists from the hotel were forced to evacuate. Local police are hunting down the criminals.
It's reported that Luis Hidalgo Okimura, the regional governor of Madre de Dios, described the robbery as a "worrying situation."
