Fifteen people, including six children, were killed after a gun battle on the east coast of Sri Lanka, local media reported, citing a police spokesperson.
The shootout between troops and suspected Islamist militants occurred in the Saindamarudu area in Kalmunai on Friday evening, six days after the fatal serial Easter blasts which claimed over 250 lives.
The militants were believed to be connected to last week's Easter bombings and one or more suicide bombers detonated the explosions inside the house as the attack happened.
Investigations are currently underway, according to the police.
