Universal Beijing Resort officially announced the seven theme parks and two resort hotels under construction on its property for the first time on Saturday, giving Chinese fun lovers a taste at what is to come.
Chinese amusement park lovers will have their pick of Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness, Transformers: Metrobase, Minion Land, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Jurassic World Isla Nublar, Hollywood and WaterWorld when the park opens.
Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness follows the adventures main character Po on his quest to become a kung fu master. Set in "Legendary China" and entirely indoors, Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness is world's first theme park land themed after the animated film series "Kung Fu Panda." Meanwhile, Transformers: Metrobase will be the world's first theme park dedicated to the Transformers franchise.
Universal Beijing Resort will also debut two hotels – The Universal Studios Grand Hotel and the NUO Resort Hotel - Universal Beijing Resort. As the world's first Universal-themed hotel and the first-ever resort hotel from NUO, one of China's first homegrown luxury hotel brands, these two hotels are poised to offer the best experiences to guests from home and abroad.
Located in Beijing's Tongzhou District, the Universal Beijing Resort will cover about 169 hectares of a 400-hectare site in the central area of Tongzhou's Cultural Tourism Zone and is expected to open in 2021.
Universal Beijing Resort is owned by Beijing International Resort Co Ltd, a joint venture between Beijing Shouhuan Cultural Tourism Investment Co Ltd and Universal Parks & Resorts, a business unit of Comcast NBCUniversal.
