At least one person died after a magnitude 5.2 earthquake jolted Baise City, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, at 9:18 a.m. BJT on Monday, according to local authorities.
The epicenter, with a depth of about 10 km, was monitored at 22.89 degrees north latitude and 106.65 degrees east longitude, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
A strong tremor was felt in nearby cities, including Jingxi and Nanning, local media reported.
A rescue team went to the epicenter to carry out relief work, authorities said.
