Beijing had built 60 new parks by the end of November, the Beijing Gardening and Greening Bureau said Wednesday.
Among them, 10 parks have opened to the public. The other 50, mainly located in Dongcheng, Xicheng, Chaoyang, Fengtai and Tongzhou districts, are pocket parks and are gradually opening to the public, the bureau said.
In recent years, Beijing has been making efforts to create more green space in the city, aiming to provide more places for residents to spend their leisure time and create a better living environment.
"We do research and analysis before we build parks and try our best to build these parks according to residents' needs," said Song Xuemin, deputy director with the bureau's division of urban greening.
