Iranian capital Tehran's Friday prayer ceremony was cancelled by the headquarters of the event, official IRNA news agency reported on Thursday.
The ceremony has been cancelled because of some considerations over the outbreak of COVID-19, the report said.
Other local reports said that the ceremonies in other Iranian cities were also cancelled.
Friday prayer is a weekly religious event held in Iranian cities, whereby Iran's major cultural, social and political issues are addressed by senior clerics.
According to the latest report on Thursday, 245 people have been infected by the virus and 26 have died since Feb. 18 when Iran announced the first case of infection in the country.
