Global COVID-19 deaths surpassed 570,000 on Monday, reaching 570,259 as of 12:34 p.m. local time (1634 GMT), according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.
Meanwhile, the total COVID-19 cases around the world rose to 12,977,429, according to the CSSE.
The United States reported the most COVID-19 cases and deaths, standing at 3,327,388 and 135,295, respectively; Brazil reported 1,864,681 cases and 72,100 deaths, only second to the United States in both figures, the CSSE data showed.
Other countries with over 20,000 fatalities include Britain, Mexico, Italy, France, Spain and India, according to the tally.
