Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region reported 28 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Monday, all in the regional capital Urumqi, the regional health commission said Tuesday in its daily report.
The region also saw nine new asymptomatic cases in Urumqi Monday.
By Monday, Xinjiang had 606 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 114 asymptomatic cases, and 15,213 people were still under medical observation.
From July 15 to Monday, a total of 42 patients were discharged from the hospital after recovery and another 37 asymptomatic dismissed from medical observation in Urumqi.
Over 1,900 medical workers from across the region have been sent to the designated hospital to help treat COVID-19 patients, according to Zeng Pinghua, deputy head of the hospital.
The region has also reserved medical equipment such as defibrillator monitor, ECMO and ventilators to ensure that the needs of the hospital are met, Zeng said.
