A 100-year-old kiwi tree was discovered recently in the Qinling Mountains, Northwest China's Shaanxi Province. It was immediately named by local residents as "kiwi tree king." Some netizens have suggested that the tree should be well protected in the future to prolong his life.
The tree was found about 1,414 meters above sea level in the depths of the Qinling Mountains.
The roots are 54 centimeters in perimeter and its branches and tendrils climb up to 20 meters high. Experts speculated that the tree could be over 100 years old after an on-the-spot investigation.
According to video posted by Phoenix Weely, the tree still has fresh kiwi fruits hanging from it.
The topic became a trended hot subject on Chinese social media. Some netizens pointed out that the information related to kiwi was recorded in China's classic poetry collection Book of Songs.
