The subway lines in Zhengzhou city, Henan province are set to resume passenger service in two batches on Sept 12 and Sept 15, according to the Zhengzhou Metro Group, operator of the subway network on Wednesday, CCTV News reported.
Subways in the city were halted after record torrential rain fell in the city on July 20. The metro company organized more than 3,000 professional technical workers to make urgent repairs on the subway network after the disaster.
As of Aug 19, all subway lines, except the first phase of Line 14, realized no-load operations. A safety evaluation commissioned by the metro company was then conducted on the lines for resumption of services.
Based on the results of the evaluation, Line 1, the first phase of Line 2 and the Suburban Line will open to passengers on Sept 12, while the second phase of Line 2, Line 3, 4 and 5 will open on Sept 15.
The first phase of Line 14 still cannot resume passenger service for the time being due to equipment needing replacement.
Further testing and cross-checking on operating systems for the subway is being carried out to ensure a smooth resumption of service.
