Ninety-eight people have died due to severe heat in the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, India Today reported on Sunday.
The report said 54 people died in Uttar Pradesh while 44 people lost their lives in the neighboring state of Bihar in the last three days.
Temperatures exceeded 40 degrees Celsius in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, as well as several other states in the country, India's meteorological authority said in a report on Saturday.
"Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions are likely to continue over east, east central and east peninsular India during next three to four days," the report added.
