Seven people were missing and more than 900 residents were relocated after sudden mudslides and flash floods hit Wenchuan county in Sichuan province in the early morning of Tuesday due to intense rainfall, according to the county's emergency management bureau.
Wenchuan county has activated its emergency plan and a team comprising over 400 personnel from the police, fire department, forestry police, and electric utility companies has been mobilized to carry out search and rescue missions for the missing people, and updates will be released soon, according to the announcement from the bureau.
The major roadways within Wenchuan, including G213 and G317, are open and operating smoothly, it added.
