Sixty teams from colleges and social institutions will showcase their cybersecurity skills in a competition in Beijing on Friday, aimed at defending against online attacks.

The contest, organized by the city's cyberspace administration, is a key event during China Cybersecurity Week, which began nationwide on Monday.

This year's competition attracted 1,095 teams from across the country, with 60 advancing to the finals after Sunday's preliminary rounds, according to the administration.

In addition to the contest, a cybersecurity talent recruitment event will be held Thursday at the University of Science and Technology Beijing. Around 100 cybersecurity firms, internet enterprises, and state-owned companies are expected to participate.

To address the growing demand for cybersecurity professionals, the administration has partnered with the job-seeking platform Boss Zhipin and more than 2,000 companies to offer online recruitment opportunities.

Additional activities to raise public awareness of cybersecurity will be held across the city, including events in schools, businesses, and shopping malls, the administration said.
