The Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau and eleven other departments jointly issued 20 measures covering six categories to improve services for elderly citizens.

Beijing has 698,000 citizens aged 80 and above, among whom 163,600 are disabled, accounting for 23.44 percent of the total, according to a press conference held by the bureau on Wednesday.

Additionally, there are 157,000 elderly individuals under 80 years old who are disabled or are suffering from dementia, according to statistics from the bureau.

The policy covers approximately 855,000 elderly individuals, including the ones aged 80 and above, as well as elderly individuals under 80 who are disabled and suffering from dementia in the city.
