The flame for the 3rd Asian Beach Games was lit on Tuesday in East China's coastal city of Haiyang, host city of the events。
The ceremony was held in a traditional sun-ray way by lighting the torch with a parabolic mirror. The torch was then passed to Wu Qi, vice president of the Chinese Olympic Committee, who lighted the flame subsequently. After that, the flame was kept in a safety lantern。
The torch relay will be held during June 12 to 14 with 162 torch bearers passing in 3 cities, including Jinan, provincial capital of Shandong Province, Yantai and Haiyang, according to the event organization committee。
The 2012 Beach Games will be held between June 16 and 22 in Haiyang. Situated in east China's Shandong Province, Haiyang is a coastal city with a 230km coast paved with golden sand off the Yellow Sea。
