More than 5,000 teenager players from about 30 countries and regions will participate in the 2018 Gothia Cup in China, which will be held here in east China from August 12 to 18.
About 330 juvenile teams from world famous football clubs will compete in 15 groups, said Chen Zhonghui, an official of the organizing committee on Tuesday.
Gothia Cup, launched in Goteborg of Sweden in 1975, is one of the largest football tournaments designated for youth held every year.
The tournament was held in Shenyang of China in 2016 and 2017 and will be held in Chenyang district of Qingdao for a longer term from this year.
Chengyang district is well-known for its juvenile football development and football facilities. There are 19 middle and primary schools featuring football and every 10,000 citizens have 2.5 football fields in this district.
