China will send 84 student skiers and skaters to the 29th Winter University Games next month, as the Chinese delegation was set up in Changchun on Monday.
According to Federation of University Sports of China (FUSC), China's governing body of university sports, the 84 athletes selected from universities around China will participate in 37 events out of eight sports.
Apart from the competitions, chief de mission of the Chinese delegation Xue Yanqing encouraged these student athletes to plant the seeds of friendship.
"We have two goals in this Winter Universiade," He said. "The first one is to win more medals. We also hope our student athletes to establish a better communication with their foreign peers."
Winter Universiade is held every two years. Chinese delegation is now to compete for the seventh times in the tournament. The 29th Winter Universiade will be held in Krasnoyarsk, Russia from March 2 to 12. More than 5,000 athletes and officials from more than 50 countries and regions are expected to attend the event.
