New York SailGP kicked off on the Hudson River on Friday, which saw the world's fastest sail racing boats hitting high speeds in front of crowds lining the waterfront at Brookfield Place in Battery Park City.
After three fleet races on Day 1, Team Japan led the first place on Leaderboard New York, Team Australia came second, while Team China secured the third place. The Great Britain team was unable to race on Day 1 due to damage to the wingsail of its boat.
New York SailGP is a two-day event. Saturday’s racing will feature two more fleet races and a final match race between the two highest scoring teams.
