Tibet's first tourism ambassadors have been selected, the regional tourism development committee said Wednesday.
Shire Zaba and Gasang Wangmo from Nagqu City and Gesang Yangzom from Lhasa City were named Tibet tourism ambassadors during the first Tibet tourism ambassador competition held by the autonomous region's tourism development committee.
Twenty four people from seven cities in Tibet vied for the top three places in the final competition on Tuesday.
The region-wide selection started on September 20. Everyone from the region was eligible to apply. The competitors were selected via online voting and recommendations from cities' tourism development commissions.
"We held this event to present Tibet's tourism image and culture," said Wang Songping, director of the Tibet tourism development committee. "We also hope to show the confidence and versatility of Tibet's youth to the world."
