Shanghai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau recently published a new measurement that outlaws entry-exit travelers from bringing in or mailing any banned items to China, which will take effect in 2018, eastday.com reported Tuesday.
People who are caught breaking the rules twice within a year will be regarded as "discredited" in the local public credit information service system.
Currently, there are over 620 invasive alien species in China, which have caused 200 billion yuan ($30.21 billion) in economic damage. Trade and tourism are the primary channels of species invasion.
According to the new measurement, a three-year discrediting period and even some criminal liability will be imposed on serious offenders.
