Jilin hosts tourism conference

The First Jilin Tourism Development Conference kicked off on Friday in the Changbai Mountain Protection and Development Zone in Jilin province, attracting about 400 delegates to discuss the high-quality development of the tourism industry.

"Leveraging the unique resource endowments, Jilin has been continuously developing the two major industry systems of ski vacations and summer leisure, forming the two major tourism brands of 'Changbai Snow World' and 'Refreshing Jilin with 22 C in Summer'", Wang Xudong, a senior Party official with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and director of the Palace Museum said at the opening ceremony.

"Jilin has become a national destination for both ice and snow tourism, and summer retreats."

According to the "Jilin Summer Tourism Climate Comfort Analysis Report" jointly released by the China Tourism Research Institute and the China Meteorological Administration's Public Meteorological Service Center, Jilin is pleasantly cool throughout the summer, with an average temperature of 22 C, average humidity of 70 percent, a UV index lower than 5, a daily average sunshine duration of 7.3 hours, up to 120 days of breezy weather, and up to 110 days without daytime precipitation, making the summer climate exceptionally comfortable.

During the two-day event, a series of activities, including supporting meetings, cultural and tourism promotion activities, forums and salons, as well as live performances, border marathon and mountain climbing race were held.

At the Jilin Cultural and Tourism Theme Promotion Conference held on Friday afternoon, a total of 39 major cultural and tourism projects were successfully signed, with a total amount of 31.5 billion yuan ($4.34 billion).

"We hope that through this promotion conference, Jilin's unique advantages in cultural and tourism resources can be further amplified, effectively enhancing the influence of the tourism brands and promoting the accelerated development of the cultural and tourism industry," said Sun Guangzhi, director of the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism.

In 2023, Jilin province constructed a total of 193 cultural and tourism projects, a year-on-year increase of 46.2 percent with an investment completion of 18.47 billion yuan.

In 2023, the province received 314 million domestic tourists, a year-on-year increase of 173 percent, achieving domestic tourism revenue of 527.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 242 percent.
