Eight tourist attractions with China's highest 5A rating have reached the state standards again following months of rectification, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

China has a tourism rating system that rates tourist attractions from A to 5A based on their overall quality. The criteria includes quality and management factors like ease of transportation links, site safety, cleanliness, etc. and also takes into account the uniqueness and recognition of the sightseeing offering.

On the list are six scenic areas which were criticized in July 2019 and required rectification within a time limit including Shenyang Botanical garden scenic spot in northeast China's Liaoning Province, Yandang Mountain scenic spot in east China's Zhejiang Province, Yuntai Mountain scenic spot in central China's Henan Province, Yannanfei Tea field scenic spot in south China's Guangdong Province, Emei Mountain scenic spot in southwest China's Sichuan Province, and Shilin scenic spot in southwest China's Yunnan Province.

Two others that were also rectified are Laojieling dinosaur Heritage Park in Henan Province and Lijiang ancient city scenic area in Yunnan Province.

They have been punished for substandard tourism quality or other problems during reviews by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to check their resource conservation, tourist facilities, as well as sanitation and safety management.

The ministry asked tourism spots to continue to improve their quality, capacity and efficiency, and required tourism administrative agencies at all levels to create a favorable environment for their development.
