A total of 223 scenic sites and regions across the city received 13.8 million visitors during Oct. 1 to 7, about the same level from the same period of last year, and raked in 850 million yuan (about 125 million U.S. dollars) in seven days, according to the municipal bureau of culture and tourism.
Among the most popular destinations are Wangfujing shopping street, Nanluoguxiang Lane, known for its well-preserved quadrangle courtyards, and Shichahai Lake, which received 1.57 million, 1.18 million and 610,000 tourists during the period, respectively.
The Tiantan (Temple of Heaven) Park, the Summer Palace and the Beijing Olympic Park ranked top three on the list of the city's 5A-level scenic sites in terms of visitor number.
