A new high-speed rail is expected to bring more opportunities to Hainan, China's southern-most province.
Tourists visiting the Chinese island of Hainan will be able to relax more than ever before. The new high-speed rail-loop links all the airports, and most of the stunning scenic spots.
For those arriving to the island at the capital Haikou's airport, the station is less than 350 meters away. And if you are coming into Sanya airport, one of the top tourist destinations, the station is even closer, just 180 meters.
When designers sat down to work out a route for the rail, they had the island's natural beauty in the foreground of their thoughts.
The amazing scenery, folk culture, wetland fields and living forests are all accessible by train. There are stations in 12 of the 19 cities or counties on the island, and the loop takes only 3 hour 10 minutes. The shortest distance between any two stops is only a little more than nine kilometers, and takes just a few moments.
On the 653-kilometer route, there are 29 stops in total, covering every attraction the island offers.
The line's eastern section was opened at the end of 2010, which prompted a boom in the number of passengers, bringing benefits to the local economy. With the western side now coming online, completing the circular high-speed rail route, the island's latent potential can truly be realized.
