The launch of the AIIB has also drawn worldwide attention, let's now take a look at how global media has covered the opening of the bank.
The Indian daily newspaper "the Hindu" has published an article saying that the AIIB's opening signals the steady revamp of the global financial architecture. It also said the bank's establishment opens a new channel of funding for the Global South, an area so far dependent on the western backed IMF, the World Bank and Japan-led ADB. The article adds that the AIIB reinforces a major geopolitical shift -- and a closer financial structural alignment between China with Europe.
Meanwhile Russia's RT network quoted Luxembourg Finance Minister Pierre Gramegna, who says the establishment of the bank is "further proof of the rebalancing of the world economy." And Pakistan's English-language daily newspaper "the nation" said a successful AIIB that sets itself apart from the World Bank and the IMF would be a "diplomatic triumph" for China, which the paper says opposes a US dominated global financial order that does not adequately represent developing nations.
And lastly the Wall Street Journal ran analyst commentaries on the opening of bank, who said the AIIB needs to show its independence from Beijing by, for example, staying away from projects designed to support Chinese companies and foreign-policy objectives.
