Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in the Saudi capital, Riyadh to begin his first state visit of 2016. He was received at a welcoming ceremony by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
President Xi offered his best wishes to the people in Saudi Arabia and said that diplomatic relations between the countries had come a long way since they were first established in 1990. He said they had a political understanding and both had made significant achievements in many sectors, which benefitted people on both sides.
Xi said he will hold talks with the Saudi king about promoting their bilateral relations, and he was hopeful they could push them to a new level. After his visit to Saudi Arabia, Xi will continue on to Egypt and Iran.
