Chinese astronaut Jing Haipeng celebrated his 50th birthday on Monday...in space.
Jing is currently aboard China's Tiangong-2 space lab, with fellow astronaut Chen Dong, making him China's first astronaut to go to space on three separate occasions. Last week the two astronauts were sent into space to conduct a 33-day space mission.
Jing was also involved in the Shenzhou-7 mission in 2008, and China's first manned space docking mission the Shenzhou-9, in 2012. The 50-year-old astronaut is also set to break another record.
Upon completing the current mission, he will surpass more than 45 days in space, and this will make him the only Chinese astronaut to have done so.
