The Supreme People's Procuratorate has held a press conference, to introduce preventive measures, and listed typical bullying cases to better identify and resolve them.

In 2016, procuratorial organs carried out investigations into over 2,500 students, and provided legal aid to more than 2,300. According to the law, the criminal records of juvenile criminal suspects and defendants are sealed.

Statistics show most bullying cases are still male-dominated. Between 2013 and 2015, the Guangdong Provincial Procuratorate looked into cases involving over 900 minors, and found 99% of the accused were male.

However, China is looking at a rising trend of female students in gang-related violence and crimes.

Also, high school students possibly account for a higher proportion of bullying. Of the cases handled by Lindong District of Shaanxi Province Procuratorate, nearly 80 percent occurred in high school.

Cases involving primary school and college students accounted for around 15 and 5 percent respectively.
