Intertwined is a look at the world famous Quanzhou Marionette Troupe. The organization performs traditional Chinese puppet shows around China and the world, to much praise and affection. The film introduces you to two puppeteers, a puppet master who has worked with puppets for over 38 years and a young female newcomer to the organization. As the master reflects on his long career, and the new comer looks to the future, the fate of puppeteering lies in the balance. Will this ancient art form survive in modernized China? What can be done to make puppeteering relevant to a new generation of people worldwide?
