A fleet of DPRK cargo ships is heading home to the port of Nampo, after China ordered trading companies to return coal received from the DPRK. Following repeated missile tests that drew international criticism and UN sanctions, China banned all imports of DPRK coal on February 26, cutting off one of the country's most important export products.
On April 7, China issued an order telling trading companies to return their DPRK coal cargoes. That order came at the same time as Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump were discussing the DPRK issue at a meeting in the U.S..
So far there has been no official comment from Chinese authorities regarding the ban.
