China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi has met with his Palestinian counterpart, Riyad al-Maliki, in Beijing on Thursday.
The two ministers held a joint press conference after the bilateral meeting.
Wang also answered questions from CGTN on the escalating tensions in Syria.
"China firmly opposes any illegal action involving the use of chemical weapons and we strongly condemn the use of chemical weapons...We support an independent and comprehensive investigation into the suspected use of chemical weapons in Syria to arrive at solid conclusions."
"If actions are to be taken, they should be taken within the framework of the United Nations and they should be on the basis of purposes and principles of the UN Charter and international basic norms," Wang added.
"We always believe that when it comes to discussions on the UN Security Council, one important principle is consensus building and that's why we have been working very hard until the last moment."
