Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh on Tuesday.
Wang said progress has been made in bilateral relations this year, including General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong's visit to China in January. And there will be more high-level contacts between leaders of the two countries this year, reported Xinhua News Agency.
The Chinese foreign minister said that two sides should enhance synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative and Vietnam's Two Corridors and One Economic Circle plan, and cement the friendship between their peoples.
China and Vietnam should properly manage their differences and promote maritime cooperation, he added.
Pham Binh Minh said Vietnam will collaborate with China to make this year's high-level contacts a success, intensify cooperation in all fields, and safeguard peace and stability in the South China Sea.
