China's largest state-owned chemical company, China National Chemical Corporation, has set a record for the country's biggest foreign acquisition, with a 43 billion U.S. dollar deal to take over the pesticides and seeds group Syngenta.
Also known as ChemChina, the company has accumulated nearly 95 percent of shares in the Swiss firm, with the deal having been delayed by several prolonged antitrust reviews.
Syngenta's shareholders accepted the bid last month. The completion of the acquisition is expected to rank the Chinese chemical company among the world's largest suppliers of crop-care chemicals.
