(ECNS) - Three fishermen were rescued from two trapped boats ahead of super typhoon Maria landing in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, on Wednesday.
One fisherman was trapped on a boat 20 meters from the coast in Lianjiang County, Fuzhou City, when the 14-level storm caused by approaching Maria bashed the fishing boat.
Firefighters successfully rescued the man after climbing onto the boat in the storm.
Two other fishermen trapped in another boat about 100 meters from the coast were also rescued after strenuous efforts.
